The Keith Dennis Young Cricketers Foundation

Working together with and supporting the Jersey Cricket Board in their development of the game of cricket in the island of Jersey.

The Jersey Cricket Board works very closely with the Keith Dennis Young Cricketers Foundation.

Keith Dennis was a previous Chairman of the Board and was the driving force behind Jersey achieving Associate status within the International Cricket Council.

The Foundation was set up to provide funds for both boys and girls to enable them to represent Jersey in local and international cricket.

It was Keith’s wish that EVERY child should have the opportunity of friendship, competition and all the team benefits that are derived from our wonderful game of cricket.  The Foundation will support cases of hardship for young cricketers and promote the use of cricket equipment and coaching in our Primary and Secondary schools in Jersey.

The result of all this is that the Foundation works with the Officers of the Jersey Cricket Board to ensure that the pool of players from which the Island can select players improves along with the overall standard of cricket in the Island.

WHERE IS POPPI?’

Where is Poppi?  A children’s book for charity

Where is Poppi? is linked to the Keith Dennis Charity Foundation which helps youngsters take up cricket in Jersey, where Keith as Chairman of the Jersey Cricket Board believed passionately that cricket was not just a sport but an activity open to all genders and nationalities who could bond and learn skills that would take them through life.  An ethos that carries on today through the Foundation, for which he would be proud.

‘Where is Poppi’ is a story of Keith’s grandchild Evie asking where he is.  The book then explores children’s reactions to the wider question of what happens when people pass away, especially close family.  The book is set in Hong Kong where Evie was at school with many nationalities, so for children reading it there is a geographical and an educational aspect in terms of seeing different countries on the map and different cultures coming up with different answers as kids tackle the question.  The book is in cartoon form aimed at 6-12 year olds with a cricket quiz (the link to the KD cricket Foundation) and is meant to be ... FUN!  Also of course to raise funds for the charity – If anyone in Jersey would like a copy of the book, please contact: Janet Scott janet3scott@gmail.com
