Cricket in Jersey through the years...



1813

Jersey's first recorded international sees them beat a combined Guernsey/Alderney XI by an innings.

 

 

1870

First cricket club is formed.

 

 

1924

Jersey beat the MCC by 8 runs.

 

 

1957

First inter-insular match against Guernsey is played. The match finishes in a draw.

 

 

1960

After three consecutive draws, Jersey are the first to win the inter-insular outright.

 

 

1964

Jersey win the inter-insular for the second time.

 

 

1974

Guernsey beat Jersey to win the inter-insular. Jersey had held it from 1964, with matches since then either being draws or wins for Jersey.

 

 

1978

Jersey win the inter-insular back.

 

 

1992

Jersey win the inter-insular, and go on to win for the next nine years.

 

 

2005

Jersey become an affiliate member of the ICC.

 

 

2006

Jersey take part in Division 2 of the European Championships losing to Norway in the final, but still qualifying for Division 5 of the World Cricket League.

 

 

2007

Jersey win a 3 match series against Italy. The results in the series mean that they are eligible to apply for associate membership of the ICC, which they achieve later in the year.


After 5 consecutive wins for Guernsey, Jersey win the 50th anniversary inter-insular match by 4 runs in front of a crowd of over 1,000.


The first inter-insular Twenty20 match is played with Jersey losing by 5 wickets.

 

 

2008

Jersey finish runner-up to Afghanistan as they host Division 5 of the World Cricket League.


Jersey win Division 2 of the European Championships.


Jersey finish last in Division 4 of the World Cricket League.

 

 

2010

Jersey host & win Division 1 of the European Championship.


Jersey finish 5th in Division 5 of the World Cricket League in Nepal, relegating them to Division 6.

 

 

2011

Jersey co-host the European Twenty20 Championship with Guernsey. They finish 3rd, beating their co-hosts in the 3rd place play-off.


Jersey are runners-up to the Netherlands A in the Continental Twenty20 tournament in Schiedam.


Jersey finish 4th in Division 6 of the World Cricket League in Malaysia.

 

 

2013

Jersey lose to Italy in the semi-final of the ICC European T20 Championship Division 1.

 

 

 

Jersey remained unbeaten in all 5 games in the ICC World Cricket League Division 6, going on to win & gain promotion to WCL5.

 

 

2014 ICC World Cricket League Division 5 was held in March in Malaysia - Jersey were again unbeaten & gained promotion to WCL4.
   
 

Jersey won 1 of their 5 matches in the round robin of the ICC World Cricket League Division 4 to be relegated back to WCL5.

 

 

2015

Jersey won entry into the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier by winning the ICC Europe Division 1 competition.

   
 

In July the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier was held in Scotland & Ireland - Jersey took 6th place in Group A & 11th place overall.

 

 

2016

Jersey were promoted back to the ICC World Cricket League Divison 4 by winning 4 out of 5 in the ICC World Cricket League Division 5.

   
 

Despite 2 wins at the ICC World Cricket League Division 4 competition in Los Angeles, Jersey were demoted to WCL5.

 

 

2017

Jersey won World Cricket League Divison 5 in South Africa.

 

 

 

2018 Jersey took 4th place to remain in the ICC World Cricket League Divison 4 in April/May in Malaysia.
   
 

Jersey played in the ICC World T20 Europe Qualifier in the Netherlands in August/September - along with Germany & Guernsey to secure their place with Italy, Denmark & Norway in the regional final in 2019.
